How to audit your own digital presence in 30 minutes.

A tactical checklist anyone can run in under half an hour. The goal isn't to fix everything — it's to know exactly what's leaking.

Most service businesses have no idea what their own digital presence looks like to a stranger. They built the website three years ago, posted on Instagram for a season, set up Google My Business once. Then never looked again. The cracks compound silently.

Here's the thirty-minute audit we run on every prospect before talking to them. Do this on yourself first. Take notes.

01Google your business name.

Open an incognito window. Search your business by name. What shows up first? Is it your website, your Google Business Profile, a competitor, an old Yelp listing, nothing? If your business doesn't dominate the first page of its own name search, that's the first leak.

Time: 2 minutes.

02Open your Google Business Profile.

Search "[your business] [your city]." If the right side panel shows your business: are the photos current, is the phone number right, are the hours right, is the description more than two lines, is there a review count? If any of those are wrong or empty, that's leak two.

If the side panel doesn't show your business: you don't have a Google Business Profile. Start one at business.google.com. Free, takes 20 minutes, single biggest local-SEO move in 2026.

Time: 3 minutes.

03Click your link-in-bio.

From your phone, open your Instagram profile. Click the link in your bio. Where does it actually go? Does it work? Is it the right page? Is the page mobile-optimized? Time how long it takes to load.

If it's broken, slow, or pointing to a stale page, every IG follower clicking it is bouncing. Fix today.

Time: 2 minutes.

04Submit your own contact form.

Open your website on your phone. Find the contact form. Fill it in. Submit it. Then time how long it takes to get a reply. If you don't get an automated confirmation within 60 seconds, your follow-up automation isn't running. If you don't get a real reply within 24 hours, your sales process is leaking.

Bonus: try the form on three different browsers. Many forms break on Safari mobile and the owner doesn't know.

Time: 5 minutes (plus waiting for the reply).

05Audit social bio consistency.

Open Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube — whichever platforms you use. Compare:

Is your business name the same on all of them? Is your profile photo the same? Is the bio describing the same business? Is the link the same? Inconsistency makes you look amateur even if every individual profile is fine. Pick one consistent set and update everywhere.

Time: 5 minutes.

06Check mobile experience.

Run your homepage through pagespeed.web.dev on a mobile profile. If the score is under 70, you have a real performance problem and visitors are bouncing before they see anything. Common fixes: compress images, remove unused scripts, host fonts properly.

Time: 5 minutes.

07Read your reviews.

All of them, in order. Google, Yelp, Facebook, niche directories. Pay attention to: average star rating, recency, and your responses. If your last response to a review was more than 90 days ago, you look unattended. Reply to every review — positive and negative — within a week.

Time: 8 minutes.

Most service businesses are losing leads they already paid to acquire. The audit is free. The fixes are usually free. The discipline is rare.

Run this audit on yourself once a quarter. The whole thing takes less time than a single sales call. The gap between businesses that do this and businesses that don't is the gap between compounding revenue and stagnation.
